The Saturday Outing: Snow Play Is Not Innate

Saturday morning was haircuts with the boys and a trip to the office with daddy for the girls. Thankfully it snowed because that was pretty boring.
All three times in their little lives they've been able to get out in the snow, we've not been able to find enough hats and gloves. Since we knew that Benjamin would not leave the porch and then complain until we let him go watch tv, we barely bothered zipping up his coat.

What to do? What to do?
Mowing was a little frustrating.

We dug out a hat for Ben when he froze up on the porch and wouldn't go in the yard but wouldn't go back inside either.

Hmm. Sippy cups are hard to drag around with mittens on, and where are my toys?

Yikes? Elaine, isn't that cold? Oh, the diaper.
No girl, we're not going on a wagon ride.

Well I could stand here and let it pelt me in the face I guess.

And two by one they fell.
The girls went down first. Their first hot chocolate--cooled with an ice cube--was spit out all over their clothes and the floor. And Nicholas was second, claiming to be frozen. Benjamin stayed out with daddy for a good half hour longer and loved it.

Not having a stock of coal laying around, we opted for devil-red cherry balls for eyes. And after someone took a bite off the top of his nose, we clipped some already sprouting twigs and shoved those in for arms.

And then made an army of minions of course.

Cold and wet, he finally came in from the cold.
And while he hated hot chocolate, I love that he loved snow at least once.

I'm glad Ben enjoyed it! I will never forget him standing at the window telling it to "stop!" last year! Too funny!

The pictures are great. I'm glad everyone got a chance to get in the snow once again.

Yea, for snow! Yea, for kids who get to play in the snow! And yea for parents who help their children make Red Eyed Snowmen!!

Now, we all know where the children get their imaginations!!
