Our Month of Crazy Is Over

 Daddy comes home this weekend.

The day that I get on a plane early in the am to leave town for the week.

The day after I take the kids up to meet grandma and grandpa airplane for a couple of weeks of Kansas fun.

Daddy will meet them all there early next week.

And I might just hang back for a day or more, maybe just all by myself...
How odd.

So We Had All These Sugar Cookies

And a rainy Saturday ahead of us.

So I invited the neighbor kids over.

To decorate and eat them all.

The Last Swim Meet

 We arrived in our finery.

 Were reflective?

There we go, had snow cones.

Right before it was rained out.
Alida loved the race she made, and was sad not to get to do the backstroke race she was entered in.
Elaine, well she made it half-way across the pool with her coach before screaming out--"I don't want to do it!"
She was not entered in the backstroke.
I missed the boys' swim entirely.

Weekend Before Last

Daddy was able to come home for a day.
At least he could do the ceremonial jump all over daddy duty with the aid of water this time.

And this little gem of a water park--just down the street.  We live there now.

Swimming Suits and Christmas Dresses

That's what little girls are made of.
How fitting we were making sugar cookies and she chose the Christmas dress.

And it is a Pleasure to Announce

That the yahoos made it through Kinder and passed to the first grade.
Both of them.
Whew.

Onward first-graders.  Onward.

Back in the Saddle

Wondering why the posting has slowed?
Peaches here got himself mobilized the end of May through June, right after getting the kids on the swim team.
Morning practice, evening practice, Saturday morning 6 am wakeups are all mine for the month of June.
Love this man.

Him? Don't worry about him.  He mobilized to Fort Hood, so he didn't escape the state this time.

Beginning in July, he got himself mobilized for a year.
This time I threw a bit of a fit, which turned out to work this once, since he wound up mobilized to Houston with intermittent tours to Fort Hood.

Swim Meet 2

Ben taking off to the right on the backstroke.

Nicholas in lane one with, dare I say, pretty darn good form.

The ladies in lanes one and two.

After getting snow cones to pass the time before the boys' second race, I explain that we need to keep our ears open so the boys know when their next race is.

Nicholas: "Oh mom.  We're racing?"
"Yes son, that's why we're here."
"Oh."

So for meet number 2, I saw them all swim, there were no false starts, no one cried their way across the pool, and no one came in very last.
In the race against ourselves, we get high marks for improvement in just one short week.

Pancakes

and kisses.
Slow summer mornings are upon us.

First Swim Meet

 One false start.

Watching the boys backstroke the length of the pool.
Who knew they could do this?

And I missed Alida completely.
Funny--they all look the same in their caps and suits standing off at in their starting line-ups.

No ribbons for the Stubers, but we have time to get there.

Memorial Weekend

We took the camera.
We took no pictures.

We relaxed with my family and then with friends and then as a family.
Perfect weekend.
