Hidden Down There

A half-way safe launching pad for the zip line.

I'm not even nervous now about night flight. Pictures soon when I get the courage to join them.

What's For Lunch?

I don't know.  Go make something.

And so they did.

And they sat down and had ravioli with tomato soup (drank from a straw).

Flashback Friday

September 2006

That kid wouldn't keep a sock on his feet, to save his life.

I remember walking through an airport an having an older woman tell me that he was upset (as in crying) because his feet were cold.

My response at the time was stunned silence. Not-so-sure I would be so reserved these days.

More From the Office Party

The Stubers ran the face painting booth at the Army office Party.  We may have taken a little time to just paint up ourselves during slow periods.

Well, and then Alida just took over completely and painted anyone that would let her.

Even her daddy, who wound up with a two-headed snake.

Deer Season Draws Near

It makes me sad for them, even though they are eating everything in our yard.

The Humvee Pull

This is the office party--Army style.

He didn't do too bad once the kids got behind and pushed...

School Days: The Bus

Other than the random almost first day of school text asking if the twins would be riding, we've had no bus driver texts to share, so far this year.  Thankfully, I was out of the country on business and had to shuttle responsibility for response to their dad.

Here is Nick, signing paperwork that says he'll behave on the bus.  There was lots of eye contact and sighing before the signature actually went down on paper.

To his credit, he has come home with some incredibly intricate and beautiful pencil drawings from his rides that he is using to keep himself in line.

New Beginnings: Fresh Paint

This old house, is charming but worn.

Painters have been here all week cleaning, patching, and painting where no normal man would go during August/September in Alabama.

New Beginnings: New Vet

Of course when you have an outside dog, he sometimes sticks his nose in the wrong thing.

Like a snake.
(the right side of  his face is normal; the left side not-so-much)

Then you get a new vet because when you take him in to your normal vet, sometimes in a small town the normal vet isn't there because he had farm work that day...

New Beginnings: Bathtime

No longer allowed in my bathtub, thank you.
Our outside dog, is every day, more of an outside dog.

New Beginnings: Eyeglasses

Elaine, Alida, and Benjamin again.

Eyeglasses

When I texted their dad this from the eye exam, he thought I was trying to make a point that Ben had gone blind without glasses, and immediately returned the eye doctor's information for an appointment.  Nope--we'd been.
