Name That Tune

In the Stuber house sometimes things come out of our mouths that sound a little like a song we may partially remember from the past....

I told you we have a video camera. It was just incapable of actually connecting with the computer, so we bought a new one.

Am I hearing Baby Got Back?!

More excited about the video addition to the Stuber Brood Blog that I can describe. I won't say how many times I just played that.

I thought I heard Player's 'Baby Come Back' No?

From photo journalism to videographer...I LOVE it!

So, so, so happy we have motion and sound on the Stuber Blog. I'm right behind Sarah on playing this over and over and over.

You got it Lori (I believe. I actually don't know the song other than that annoying part...)! Now, if I could figure out how all of you do those little playlists on the side and could actually go hunt down music you could all see how horribly untalented we are in our house. One thing at a time.

Thank you Dukes for sending me the know-how in one, easy copy and paste e-mail on how to do this five seconds after I admited not knowing how to do the free player of the song. I feel even more brilliant this morning...

I know Sarah isn't THAT old. There is a HUGE difference between "Baby GOT Back" and "Baby COME Back." If you heard "Baby Got Back" you would cover your children's ears and make them leave the room.

Nice to see the added video feature to the blog. I miss those little kiddos! They're growing up too fast!

Sarah actually makes all of us look like we're ready for the retirement home age wise--she certainly has no actual memory of this song in it's hey day. Heck I was three when it was originally released. Funny is that I saw they were doing Baby Got Back on Dancing with The Stars the other night, which I don't actually watch but I watch a pop culture clip show that catches me up, and I wondered how many children were watching Dancing with The Stars that night. Baby Got Back will be entertaining with the kids for a couple of years yet...

I, too, was shocked that it might be Baby Got Back, but they have censored versions of these songs, no?

For the record, I am 47.

You're right, though, I have no memory of this song and I have no idea who Player is.

Does anybody else remember the Friends episode with Ross singing "I like big butts and I can not lie
You other brothers can't deny..."

A little Sir Mix-a-Lot never hurt anybody. On t.v. anyway.

I'll get that ready for you to post, Susan, I just know you want that on your blog.

You're 47?! You do NOT look like it (sorry, Susan, to converse here with Sarah). I'm not kissing up - you really do not look that old. Maybe your little munchkins are keeping you young. Not that 47 is old, I'm just saying. I better not have two less-than-two-year-olds when I'm 47. Maybe I need to get crackin'.

And, yes, I do remember that Friends episode. HILarious. That was one of my favorite songs back in the day (I was in middle school when it came out). What can I say - I'm part of the hip-hop generation ;)

Baby Come Back lyrics from Player -circa 1978...

Spending all my nights
All my money going out on the town
Doing anything just to get you off of my mind
But when the morning comes
I'm right back where I started again
Trying to forget you is just a waste of time

Baby come back, any kind of fool could see
There was something in everything about you
Baby come back, you can blame it all on me
I was wrong, and I just can't live without you

All day long, wearing a mask of false bravado
Trying to keep up the smile that hides a tear
But as the sun goes down
I get that empty feeling again
How I wish to God that you were here

Baby come back, any kind of fool could see
There was something in everything about you
Baby come back, you can blame it all on me
I was wrong, and I just can't live without you

Now that I put it all together
Give me the chance to make you see
Have you used up all the love in your heart
Nothing left for me
Ain't there nothing left for me

Baby come back, any kind of fool could see
There was something in everything about you
Baby come back, listen, you can blame it all on me
I was wrong, and I just can't live without you

I was wrong, and I just can't live

Unfortunately, I cannot post the entire lyrics of Baby Got Back on this family blog. Keepin' it clean folks, especially after I toed the line yeserday.

Let's see, if I was born in 1961, that would mean I was 17 in 1978. I should know that song in that case.

Maybe I'm not 47 after all. It's just that with all the hanging skin and bags under my eyes and thoughts about the youth of today...I get confused sometimes.

Yeserday is my street speak for "yesterday." Clearly to much Sir Mix-a-Lot for this old white woman...
