For Alida, and to our benefit this past year, 2010 was all about independence and perhaps exerting some personality along the way.
She will play with herself or with others.
She learned quickly this year how to pout instead of throw a fit when she didn't get her way.
On her first plane ride ever, she chose the seat farthest from me, would glance over every once in awhile and went on about being a model passenger.
There is something that can be hauntingly serious about her at times.
When we first started swimming in the big pool, Alida was one of the first to take of without fear.
2010 was the year of horse obsession. Here she is talking to daddy in Iraq never quite giving up her place on the horse.
She has been on a kick lately that pictures must mean that she make a goofy face.
But sometimes she forgets that and just smiles for me.
And sometimes I catch her dancing.
