Sleep

You, my dear Nicholas, are upstairs asleep right now. Finally. After the third trip. You told me that you had to work and you had to keep the light on to work. The first time we went up, Benjamin told us he was sick. So we all stood in the bathroom together, confirming that it was a tactic, shall we say. The second time, you were working. The third time I went up, Benjamin had the door open so he could see as he crept around. He told me he was patting you on the head. So sleep dear boy, your brother is still awake watching over you. At least he is being quiet now.

How you boys manage to still be awake now baffles me after your 5:45 a.m. appearance in our bedroom this morning. Ack.

Alida, you just get a bad rap these days from all of the 18 months it took to get you to sleep. Here is a confession: You are currently our best sleeper--as long as you get a proper hug before bed. The first night you were back from vacation, you didn't get a proper hug. So you launched yourself up on the crib and hung there on the edge for awhile as we asked you what you were going to do next. You finally gave and got back down in the crib. Whew. Cribs will last a few more days in our home thankfully.

Can you literally count on your hands the number of times they've all gone out like lightbulbs and slept through the night?

Big girl beds, huh?
Can't wait to see that.

Love the imaginations of the boys. But whatever it takes, right?, to stay up and have just a little bit more fun.
