The Covid Eye Exam

Right before the world closed, we had Ben scheduled for a much needed eye exam. 

We never would have believed that after canceling one appointment, the next would look like this with temperature checks and health questionnaires before entering the building and the whole place to ourselves for the appointment. 

The Covid Normal

Passing the time with a facial. 

Making a mess in the bathroom with tye-dye dye.

Maybe it is more normal than we think. 

That Covid Timeline

Some Tuesday morning recently, or maybe it was Wednesday. 

Elaine called down the laundry chute that she was hungry. 

In a normal world I would not be sending care packages to the second floor through the laundry shoot.  Well shoot, I thought I had corrected that chute.

But when the painters are finally willing to come back into homes to fix the warranty work, you let them block the children off in the upstairs and get to work. 

The Covid Shopping List

I'm used to weird things popping up on my grocery list. 

I'm not used to not being able to find ANY greeting cards at the store. 

I did find this thing...

And never did I believe that Clorox Wipes would join "horse" in the line of things I wouldn't be picking up. 

That Covid Hair

Nick was ready. 

Ben is not. 

So it went. 

And, we didn't do too bad.

Strawberry and brie toast with thyme and balsamic vinegar. 

The girls are ready to try anything new. 

Much like dill, I may have been the only one to think this was all brilliant. 

Never worry, through some magic grocery wizardry I managed to over purchase lemons.  

Lemon pound cake soaked with lemon syrup and covered in lemon glaze.

Because when the world give you Covid-brain with your shopping list, you make lemon pound cake. 

Home Stockpile

I am not this person. 

But I can't stop myself whenever I see one now.

I would totally be the stockpiler of this item however; if I could only find some. 

Home Gardening Cont.

We didn't just plant all the vegetables possible. 

We also tried our hand at flowers. 

And we've been pretty lucky so far. 

They seems to like it here. 

So we made an entire sunflower field for Elaine. 

And this may not be the most beautiful bloom, but after we dug up, split, and moved this guy this spring, we actually thought we were going to loose him.  Guess not...

Home Recreation

It may still be a touch cool here. 

But this does not tend to deter the girls. 

That we can get the boys to have dinner outside from time to time is a win.

Covid Animals

As the weather warms and the dog lays out in the sun, the cat finds more house to herself. 

And other than getting new accessories from bored girls, the dog is completely unaffected. 

Covid Cut and Come Again

Chives, kale, and bibb lettuce from our garden.  

With no sneeze guard here, we go to work making salads. 

Alida: heavy on the ranch please. 

Nick: way heavy on the tomatoes please.

Ben: Any and every cheese please.

Elaine: ate half of hers before I even made it around the table. 

Alas: our best growing new herb, and I am the only one who likes it. 

Covid Stars

We spent more time running after balls than we did playing, but anything different at this point.

Covid+Teenagers

Fast Food Night, which actually takes more time and energy than just cooking. 

Ben's Order: four cheeseburgers, fries, and an orange soda. 

I do not drive through McDonalds here without commentary from the people taking the money that I order a lot of food.

Weekends at Home

Are getting better as spring gives us glimmers of hot weather to enjoy being here. 

That smile is actually an exclamation of how cool it really still is, however.
