More Moving

April 2015 above.

We parted with our Alabama property (finally) in April 2018.  We hope the new owners love it as much as we did.  Although, we will not miss the snakes, scorpions and fire ants creeping about their feet.

Hector Gets a New Home

Please excuse our mess; it's moving day.
Because we just can't stay put it seems.

After asking our landlords for six weeks whether we could renew our lease, two weeks ago today we learned that we will not offer us a new 12-month lease.  They'd love for us to stay and continue to pay rent until they sell the lot and the bulldozers are at the door but without a lease or any assurance of how long we can stay.
No thanks.

Biscuits and Gravy

Nicholas, the boy who generally gags at the thought of breakfast food. Really. Put us in a car on a road trip and hand out fast food breakfast?  I generally have to hand him a trash can.

I got you.

Announce that there are biscuits and gravy on any given morning, and I may even get to sit down with you for 10 minutes while you plow through all that is there leaving none for late-comers. I may even get a smile out of you. Jimmy Dean breakfast scramble, a very close and quick second.

Dear Book Club Leader

When the girls returned from their 5th grade class with a sign-up sheet for a lunchtime short-story book club focusing on the genres of horror and humor and meeting once a week this last semester, I was quite skeptical about how that would go.

I was so incredibly wrong.

The girls LOVED the class, entirely. When we talked about it last night, they first said they both loved the horror portion the best. When I said, really?! What about the “woodsen” with Brian Regan? Then they both said, oh, yeah! We loved the comedy portion the best! (In our house, we laughed our heads off at that.) So, it is safe to say, they both enjoyed the entire course. Their favorite story both was Mr. Shockey, and The Lottery made a big impression.

I found myself looking forward to the updates from the teacher every week, just to read about what they were reading and how they were doing it. She was infectious. It is rare that I go out of my way to write a true thank you letter. I did this time.

Haha

I guess if I were going to marry one of them, I'd still chose the guy on the left.

No doubt about it.

Why So Sad?

Oh, because I just admitted I cannot deliver you an acting career.
When I told you, you would need to come up with a realistic plan of some sort that didn't start with me needing to do all that work, the career ended.
Well enough.

Alida's Family Picture

Nick is tired.
Ben is angry.
Elaine is happy!
Dad and mom love each other very  much.
And, the act of kissing makes Alida throw up.

Seems just about right.

Forget Jamaica

Stuffing our faces at the Mercantile in Pawhuska, OK,

and wandering about the Pioneer Woman's Food Network Kitchen at her ranch,

And maybe pretending that we were just staying in one of the guest rooms there...
My spring break highlight, for sure.

Note to Self

Skip Bo takes a much longer time to play than I remember.
