Handsome

Particularly when he just gets dressed because he knows Scouts is tonight and we're going to ask him anyway.

Murder at Doom Mansion

We hosted a little dinner party the other night, ala the game Clue.
Complete with socialite, hair tonic salesman, doctor, actress, maid, cop, general, lawyer, and ninja (of course...)

About as fancy a dinner part as you can accomplish with 8-10 year-olds.

Then they foud a dead body!

And a round of discovery, where we made our accusations.

And the big reveal, when the hair tonic salesman confessed.

We tried to figure out how to get a Boy Scout badge out of this, but had to give in and just admit that it sounded like a fun thing to do.  And it was.  The kids were amazing at staying in character and interrogating one another.

Boys Vs. Girls

Patric wins on coolness factor in January for arranging a Boy Scout outing to the Montgomery Hyundai factory to see cars being made.

During which they got to ditch school early;
hang out with their friends;
and take a small group tour car making in action.

Thumbs up for the Boy Scouts!

We tried a second Girl Scout troop (the first troop story later, after I've calmed down a bit yet).  We went to the first cookie booth sale the day after I returned from Africa--it was written down wrong on the sheet and was not happening the day we arrived.  We tried again the following Saturday.  No one showed up, and we received an e-mail later in the day asking whether anyone was going to participate because the leader wasn't really feeling well.

Um, no.

I will now be withdrawing the ladies from troop number 2.

Boy Scouts

 6 hours of sewing 12 patches.

And more to go.
But so stinkin' cute.

And there is a den mommy who has us beat--she is an identical twin.  She and her sister married identical twin brothers.  They live next door to each other.  She has a set of 11-year-old twin boys, and a boy in first grade.
Whew.
That is a tv show.
