Flashback Friday: September 2009

I will never, ever forget taking this picture.

It had been a very long weekend while Patric was away at National Guard on the other side of the state.

Let's just say, this may have been the only time there were any smiles that weekend because it had been a long one.

 

And then along came Sunday night at bedtime, daddy still not home, and there is a sudden outbreak of sweetness throughout the brood.

 

That.  That would melt away 47 crap hours in a heartbeat, and it still does.

A Christmas Carol

At the Alabama Shakespeare Festival (perhaps the only reason left to ever enter Montgomery).

 

At intermission, a woman stopped and remarked that she was so pleased to see such a lovely group of children.  It turns out that she and her husband had watched us at the restaurant we'd been to just before the show.  We had been their dinner entertainment.  The children looked her in the eye and said hello.  Ben even got up unprompted and shook her hand, said "I'm pleased to meet you."  What a lovely family she said, and we were so proud.

 

And then during the ride home, the children wouldn't stop cackling at themselves while they made jokes about body functions.

 

(Sigh)

 

Because the Girls Really Wanted to Use Those Glasses

Good manners Sunday.  Where we ate at the dining room table, learned how to hold our napkins in our laps, and acted like ladies and gentlemen.  Never mind that it was mostly cheese and crackers with soup.
