2020 Style Thanksgiving

Tradition
We should have been with family; we had to make due with evoking family.

And then since nothing in this world makes sense, we went ahead and made stuffing and seafood.

There was an Alida hurt in the making of Thanksgiving.  Usually it is just a close call.

Board game.
Something normal.

Bringing in the last of the harvest after the end of harvest season  celebration meal, sure why not.

Monsoon season

We had a little rain the other day.

And this ditch of ours never ceases to fascinate me.
The neighbor's across the road is dumbfounding.

Hunt Day

He seemed quite confident the day he traveled, even if he had to get a rapid Covid test that morning after finding out a co-worker he had been with the week before had tested positive.

And now we get more deer meat.
2020: School lunch food and venison.  The year of making ways for food to be edible.

But, that happy mess is so worth it.

That's Better

July 2020.
We painted, a lot.

Then sometime after that, we stained the columns and cleaned the place up.

But, we couldn't stop there.
"Mom?  What's all the wood in the garage for?"

A weekend project, of course.

We do have lots of hand around here.

That's better.

Growing Up Covid

Two  years ago this month.
Everyone was still my kid.

These guys, so adorable.

Now, as tall as his father nearly.

Both taking driver's education.

I'm Over this.

But why?

What are you talking about?

Who are you?

Nightly in my house now, I bring my phone out after the meal is over and question all the children--who is this person texting me?  Did you do whatever they are telling me you had to do?  When will you guys ever just go back to school?

Still Growing

We're still pulling beans and peppers out of the garden as November begins.

In anticipation of gardening finally ending at some point, Patric has been working at a composting bin for the backyard.  It is reminding me of wasp nests and my father every day.  We'll see how it goes.

November 2011

Public drinking fountains were still real.

And we just climbed right in them.

More Spooky: School Lunch

We have received so many frozen cups of peaches and strawberries that no one wants that I went ahead and made freezer smoothly packs to see if I can get anyone to eat them in any way.  Applesauce puffs went over well.  There is also a good dog biscuit recipe we found that used applesauce.

It has become a joke that if it is labeled delicious, it definitely is not.
They are pretty good sports about it, but there are only so many cold mushy vegetables with some sort of meat on a bun that you can choke down.

The amount of plastic bags is astounding.

These.  No one knows what to do with these.

Halloween 2020

Spooky for sure.
None of the kids chose to go trick-or-treating this year.

But if you braved the evening and showed up to our house, you won the candy lottery.
