Sisters

I love it when I randomly find them like this as I move around our house.
Always brightens my day.

Conversations with the Ladies

"Mom?  Why don't you ever wear a bikini?"

I haven't stopped laughing long enough to actually answer that question more than just to tell them how much I love them.

Best Friends, for an hour

Nicholas: "It's really weird mom, Alida and I are really getting along today!"

Breakfast

Oh yes we did.
Chocolate cupcakes for breakfast one day last week.
Frosting optional--about half and half on this choice in our house.

Shredding Day

First, I found two that would take the bait and take on this job for me.

And it didn't take long for there to be four, interested in the new noise.

Long after everyone else figured out that this was work, Alida stuck with it.
This is the next day, after she had stacked everything, nice and neat--regular, legal size, and stack of random receipts and small papers.  She even figured out somehow what really needed to be shredded in that stack and what she could actually just throw away.

Conversations with Nicholas

Our favorite activity these days, wonder aloud as we drive around how much money he could make mowing different size lawns.

That's usually right after we hear: "There's Well Fargo, the most wonderful place on earth."

That's usually before, "Thanks mom for taking us to Wendy's.  I asked for you to make lunch because I didn't want you to have to spend any extra money."

Oh well, today, I didn't really feel like cooking buddy, so the right price menu seemed just right today.

Remembering Texas

Savory Kolaches
Ben was beside himself remembering these from our neighborhood donut shop the other day.

Loving the Internet, I found a former Texan longing for tastes of home as well, who posted a recipe for these.

More Expected

Summer activity that we expect: catching frogs.
That it came from Elaine, unexpected.
That she is wearing gardening gloves to do it, how we know this is Elaine.

Day 1 Summer

Up at 6 am.
Fighting over a game of Monopoly by 7 am.
Refusing breakfast by 7:30 am.
Bored by 8:00 am.
At the pool at opening at 10:00 am.

By noon, all tricks used up.
By 2:00, Nicholas was sent to his room, where he fell asleep and took an hour nap while he was waiting for me to come fuss at him.

Luckily, we only scheduled a week of freedom before we start our summer of scheduled activities...

The Last Day of School

Parents waited, cream "pies" in hand.
And then we waited.
And waited.
And those cream pies were melty.
And then the ants arrived.

But then the children finally arrived.
And it was on.

And the Stuber children were not as impressed with cream pies as we parents were.

Downright terrified in the instance of Alida.

Mommy and Daddy fail.
But so much fun, and bath time was taken care of before dinner!

Skipping School

I checked them out all of an hour early from school a few Fridays ago.
The bonus: empty movie theater for Spider Man at the movies.

Don't worry, grades were already turned in and apparently that means there is nothing more to learn in school, so it was go to the movies with me or sit and watch movies at school.
