Shees on the bred

We finally figured out what she meant by "shees on the flat bread" when we were in the grocery store the other day and she pointed to the flour tortillas and asked me if we could get the flat bread to make her recipe.
Absolutely we can get the flat bread to make your recipe.

They Couldn't Be More Different

Alida: "Mommy, why do you keep taking pictures of me?"
Me: "I don't know, you're there I guess. And I love your head feather there."
Alida: "Oh."
Me: "What are you doing"
Alida: "I'm making a Pete the Cat book."
Me: "Oh."

Me: "Oh, hello cat!"
Elaine: "Take my picture mommy!"

And as I had lunch at school with the ladies the other day, one of the subs stopped by and remarked as if she was just putting it together.
"Oh, they're twins!"
"Yes."
"You're their mommy."
"Yes."
"I have substituted in both of their classes. Your girls couldn't be more different, but they're both so wonderful."
"Yes, agreed."

Good Grades

Alida wanted the color-your-own, cardboard playhouse.

Elaine a banana split.

Nicholas wanted the arcade (at the movie theater).
Ben, when asked what treat? Nothing mom, I'm good.

And I was happy to oblige since Patric was out fishing for the weekend, and I had these smart little kids who all brought home smart little report cards for their first nine weeks and a weekend full of time to entertain them.

Movie Theater Room

Finally, we took the movie projector out of its case on Sunday afternoon; better yet that we've joined the current century and can stream Netflix now. Now there is playing with the toys that are there, in that windowless room up the stairs of this mostly one-floor house.

The Georgia Aquarium

Columbus Day, we decided to get out of the house.
But, not after sleeping in a little while, Atlanta is only two hours away anyway!

So we took off kind of late.
Then the car battery died on our way out of town.
No bother, we're so close.

Well, and then we remembered the time zone changes in that small two hours, so it was really three hours plus the extra car battery hour.

So we rolled in and took advantage of our full hour at the aquarium on Monday before it closed. At least tickets were half price by the time we finally rolled up...

Butterflies

We recently had a butterfly kit around for the ladies. From creepy, crawly caterpillars to butterflies that you finally set free.

So much fun to watch the girls letting them go.

And then there was the random cricket that Patric had thrown in there for fun.

Spelling Words

Nicholas, spell a sentence using the word "part." "Part."
"A part of my heart fell out when my mother died."
Yes, that counts, Nickel. You don't have to smirk though when you write it.

Full Force Imagination

There is something amazingly powerful looking about that girl in that instant, while she, Cleopatra, moves to strike her friend with an dark curse ala Once Upon A Time (a new fan favorite at our house on Netflix).  And get thee to piano lessons soon I think, with those long fingers.

Gone are these days in the link below I guess, which are cuter now after a bit of hindsight:

Six-year-old Reasoning

Saturday morning breaks, and I awake to someone tickling my feet, another sitting in the doorway.  It's 7:30 a.m., and they have waited long enough, according to them.
"Mom, we need to go buy some boots."
Off we go to buy some boots.  As we leave the store, after some severe eye rolling at the pink boots for one and the fuzzy gold sparkle boots for the other and a serious attempt to convince at least one to fall in love with the black elf-ish zip-up boots, they start asking for candy, which gets a 'no' at this point.
"Mom, you never let us have anything!  Can I wear my boots now?"

Sunday afternoons at our house.
Sure, why not.

An Evening Walk with the Ladies

Slash crawl with the ladies
Pretty sure these neighborhood pod markers weren't meant for this type of activity.

October is Here

All month long.
Never mind that it was 90 degrees yesterday.
